The Caterpillar 990K is a heavy-duty mining loader designed to be the perfect loading tool for 100-tonne trucks. Weighing over 80 tonnes, it delivers the stability and breakout force required for face loading in pits and handling heavy block material. The 990K combines the proven durability of the previous 990H with a more powerful Cat C27 engine and an upgraded powertrain to deliver faster cycle times and increased payload capability.
Efficiency is key to the 990K’s design, featuring an Impeller Clutch Torque Converter (ICTC) and Rimpull Control System (RCS) that allow the operator to modulate rimpull from 100% down to 25% to minimize tyre slippage. The operator station is equipped with the latest “Vital Information Management System” (VIMS 3G), providing critical machine health data and payload information via a large touch-screen display.

Additional Information
The 990K is built with a full box-section rear frame and a four-plate loader tower to resist torsional shock and twisting forces. It utilizes a sleeve bearing pin design on the front linkage, which eliminates the need for daily greasing and significantly extends service life. The machine is also “Autodig” ready, allowing for automated bucket loading cycles to reduce operator fatigue and improve consistency.
